Exploring new dimensions of podcasting — from crafted narratives to immersive audio worlds.
How can podcasts become more than stories we listen to — something we step into, feel, and co-create with? At Sonic Days 2025, the Podcast track invites audiences to explore the evolving boundaries between storytelling, sound design, and production practice through a series of talks and case studies from leading creators and industry specialists.
This year’s programme highlights diverse approaches to narrative construction, sonic dramaturgy, and the craft of building compelling audio experiences. Among the sessions, you can experience:
Audible / Future
Stuart McCowan and Chris Jones from Audible Europe will share insights into the art and innovation of immersive audio storytelling.
Stuart McCowan, Director of Post Production at Audible UK, brings decades of experience from his time at Skywalker Sound in California, where he worked on major titles such as Avatar, Jurassic World, and Sherlock. A multi-award-winning sound designer, including a Primetime Emmy and BAFTA, Stuart now leads Audible’s efforts to merge cinematic sound design with narrative creativity. His work focuses on pushing the limits of what storytelling through sound can achieve.
Chris Jones, Head of Production at Audible Europe, combines creative leadership with a passion for bold, boundary-pushing content. With a background at Sky, ITV, and Channel 5, he has overseen numerous brand and voice strategies and now leads Audible’s European studios. Together, McCowan and Jones explore how immersive sound, technology, and creativity are shaping the future of audio entertainment.
Scripted PC – Writing Reality

The creative team behind Periodisk, Psyken, Loven, and Videnskabens vindere share their experiences in shaping real-life stories for the ear. Participants will gain insight into how to design turning points, adapt text for a narrator’s voice, and write words that resonate both on the page and in sound. It is an honest discussion about the craftsmanship behind making fact-based stories feel dramatic, authentic, and emotionally engaging.
Tonebenders
Since its debut in 2012, Tonebenders Sound Design Podcast has become a vital voice in the international sound community. Host Timothy Muirhead will share the journey from the podcast’s beginnings as a personal side project to its development into a monetized weekly show. With over a decade of experience, Muirhead offers reflections on finding a show’s unique voice, building a loyal community, and sustaining a creative project through the challenges and rewards of long-term podcasting.
