Danish electronic composer and producer Jens B. Christiansen, known as Rumpistol, has spent more than two decades developing a unique musical voice that bridges genres and emotional states. Since his debut in the early 2000s, he has become one of his generation’s most inquisitive and forward-thinking artists—known for fusing detailed electronic production with organic textures and evocative melodies.
Following a personal and artistic turning point in 2020, Rumpistol began a trilogy of albums exploring the inner landscape of the human mind. Beginning with After the Flood (2020), composed for piano and strings during a period of recovery from stress, and followed by Isola (2022) and Going Inside (2023), the trilogy revealed an intimate and meditative side of his artistry. His 2025 release Nebula expands this exploration outward—contemplating humanity’s connection to the cosmos.
Beyond his solo work, Rumpistol has received both a Danish Music Award and a Carl Prisen with the band Kalaha, and contributed to award-winning projects such as KALEIIDO’s 2024 Carl Prisen for Jazz Composer of the Year. His compositions span dance, theatre, film, games, and commercial sound design, reflecting a deep engagement with sound in its many forms.
At Sonic Days 2025, Rumpistol will present a special multi-channel concert on a 180+ loudspeaker setup—an immersive exploration of spatial sound and emotion. In his presentation, Synths and Creativity, he will share insights from more than twenty-five years of music production and sound design, discussing how electronic and acoustic worlds intersect, and how creative practice evolves alongside technology and culture.
