Two influential figures in modern music production will take the stage at Sonic Days 2025 to explore the craft of recording and immersive sound. This year’s keynote talks bring together Marcela Rada and Morten Lindberg, each offering a distinct perspective on how music is produced and experienced today.
Marcela Rada returns to Sonic Days after her appearance last year, where she gave several talks regarding music production and diversity in the audio industry. As a doctoral researcher in Audio Engineering at the University of Surrey, she has built a reputation for making immersive audio and production workflows understandable and useful to both students and working professionals. Through The Immersive Lounge, she has launched projects designed to share knowledge and support inclusive practices across the industry.
Her talk will focus on music production and how immersive methods can reshape the listening experience. Marcela Rada will also be the host of an immersive sound design and mixing competition at this year’s Sonic Days. Participants will be given a multitrack session originally mixed in stereo and asked to reimagine it for Dolby Atmos. The goal is not simply to pan elements into a three-dimensional field, but to think critically and creatively about how sound design and mixing choices can transform a track into a fully immersive experience.
Morten Lindberg also brings deep experience to the conference. A Norwegian sound engineer and Grammy-winning producer, Lindberg has spent decades developing recording techniques for classical and acoustic music. Known for his detailed approach to capturing acoustic performances, he will not only discuss his production process but also demonstrate it on site. By setting up his recording rig for classical ensembles at Sonic Days, he offers attendees a chance to see his workflow in action.
Together, Rada and Lindberg represent different but complementary paths in music production — one rooted in immersive audio research, the other in precision acoustic recording. We cannot wait to welcome them back to Sonic Days 2025!
