Bjørn Svin is coming to Sonic Days

Bjørn Svin (Bjørn Christiansen) is a Danish electronic composer and performer who has been a central figure in Denmark’s electronic music scene since the mid-1990s. Known for his expressive live performances and distinctive approach to sound, he has developed a body of work that spans albums, remixes, installations, and cross-disciplinary collaborations.

He released his first record in 1995, and his 1997 album Mer Strøm—featuring the widely recognized track of the same name—helped establish him as a notable voice in Danish electronic music. This was followed by Benene på Nakken in 1999, further cementing his position within the country’s experimental and techno-oriented music communities.

In addition to his artistic output, Bjørn has contributed to the growth of Danish electronic music through education. He has taught electronic music composition at Syddansk Musikkonservatorium, Det Jyske Musikkonservatorium, and Engelsholm Højskole, supporting the development of new producers and sound artists. His long-running collaboration with visual artist Carl Emil Carlsen in the duo Silicium expands his work into audio-visual performance, blending electronic sound with generative visual design.

Across his career, Bjørn Svin has maintained a strong dedication to exploration, both technically and artistically, continuously refining his methods in studio production, live performance, and interdisciplinary expression.

At Sonic Days 2025, Bjørn Svin will present the session “Development of an Aesthetic Coherence Between Sound and Music Creation.” Drawing from his years of studio practice and live experimentation, he will explore how sound sources, musical composition, and performance systems can be woven into a unified artistic language. The session features a short live performance followed by a breakdown of his live setup and the creative practice he has developed over the years. Through this presentation, he will offer insight into how improvisation and structure interact within electronic performance, and how artistic expression can evolve through the interplay of technology and creative intent.
