Renowned Sound Designer David Kamp Joins Sonic Days to Explore Sound in Museums

We can now reveal that David Kamp, a renowned sound designer and composer, will be joining the Sonic Days conference. As the founder of Studiokamp, David has worked across a wide array of media, including animation, interactive projects, and sound for museums. His unique ability to blend music composition with abstract sound design has earned him recognition for creating deeply immersive and emotionally rich soundscapes.

David’s approach to sound goes beyond traditional design. He expertly combines technical skill with creative vision, transforming the auditory experience into a key storytelling element. His collaborations with leading directors and artists in the animation world have resulted in compelling and innovative projects, pushing the boundaries of what sound can achieve in visual media. His passion for sounds and field recording also led to founding the sound effects label Shaping Waves, providing unique sound effects and ambiences to fellow sound designers.

At Sonic Days, David will speak about sound in museums. Kamp has extended his expertise in sound design to the world of museum exhibitions, where he creates immersive audio experiences that enhance visitors’ engagement. His approach involves crafting unique soundscapes tailored to the specific themes and environments of the exhibits.

In his keynote, Kamp will explore the unique challenges and creative opportunities of working with museums, focusing on two standout projects: the immersive 360° show “Invisible Worlds” for the American Museum of Natural History in New York City, and “Bauhaus Sound” for the Bauhaus Foundation in Dessau, Germany. David will share insights into the production process for both projects, highlighting how they compare to his other work in sound for visual art, animated films, audio branding and related fields.

We are thrilled to have David Kamp share his extensive knowledge and experiences at Sonic Days, and we look forward to the fresh perspectives he will bring to the future of sound in museums.
